Have you received a letter or postcard in the mail or via email regarding your mortgage with TriStar Bank asking you to contact an unknown phone number? This is a scam using public record information to target you and your public information.
This information DID NOT come from TriStar Bank or any other financial institution. Scammers are obtaining this public information to sell you something or attempt to steal your identity. You could be asked to call a telephone number or click on a link to obtain important information on your loan. The information may include your loan amount, closing date, name, and address. This information is included as part of your mortgage public records. It may contain a disclaimer that the information is not affiliated, provided by, or endorsed by any lending institution.

Regardless of who you worked with for your mortgage financing, some information on mortgages is public record. Public records can be obtained from a county recorder’s office, including liens, property purchases, and transfer documents. The scammers use this information to make the information appear to be a legitimate “Matter of Importance.”
If you receive any such notices, please disregard them and dispose of them as you would any other junk mail. Contacting the scammers on these documents could compromise your personal information.
